Cedar Grove Doctor Earns Chiropractic Sports Physician Designation

Dr. Andrea Buccino receives special training, certification.

Chiropractor, Dr. Andrea Buccino has obtained the postgraduate designation of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. Dr. Buccino joins more than 4,800 chiropractors who hold this designation.

Dr. Buccino participated in an intensive one- year course, which required her to attend a minimum of 100 hours of a 120-hour postgraduate program, followed by having to successfully pass a comprehensive written examination. The instruction Dr. Buccino had undergone at the New York College of Chiropractic, focused on physical fitness, and the evaluation and treatment of injuries encountered in sports.

Her course work included emergency procedures for sideline injury, nutrition for the athlete, shoulder injuries of the throwing athlete, knee injuries of the running athlete, exercise physiology, and special considerations for the female and pediatric athlete.

While working towards her certification, Dr. Buccino worked with semi-professional football team, the New Jersey Lions, helping to stretch, tape, and adjust players before a game, along with being stationed on the sidelines, should any injuries occur. She also had the opportunity to work with the Princeton University Tae Kwon Do team, watching the mats during the matches, and assessing injuries.

Dr. Buccino’s CCSP training will aid her in the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries by enhancing her diagnostic skills and patient care.
