Cedar Grove Marijuana Arrests Continue: Traffic Stops Lead To Citations
Cedar Grove police continued their enforcement of marijuana possession laws on local roads with multiple arrests for possession last week.

Cedar Grove, NJ – Cedar Grove police continued their enforcement of marijuana possession laws on local roads with multiple arrests for possession last week.

According to the Cedar Grove Police Department, the following arrests recently took place in the township:
- On Monday, March 14, at 6:05 p.m., Ptl. Jose Rodriguez initiated a motor vehicle stop for observed violations. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of a 24 year-old Maplewood woman after she was found to be in possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (an amphetamine and dextroamphetamine pill), and CDS marijuana (under 50g). She was additionally charged with attempting to destroy evidence (a small bag containing CDS marijuana).
- On Tuesday, March 15, at 7:34 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella initiated a motor vehicle stop for observed violations. As the officer secured the operator’s credentials, he detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of a 22 year-old man from East Orange after he was found to be in possession of CDS marijuana (under 50g). He was processed on the charge at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.
- On Wednesday, March 16, at 2:32 a.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella initiated a motor vehicle stop after observing suspicious activity. As the officer secured the operator’s credentials, he detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of an 18 year-old Jersey City man after he was found to be in possession of marijuana (under 50g) and CDS Alprazolam.
- On Thursday, March 17, at 11:23 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck arrested a Bloomfield man after he was found to be in possession of CDS marijuana (under 50g). The arrest of the 19 year-old followed an investigation into a vehicle parked in Mills Reservation after the posted curfew. The defendant and four other individuals were also cited for being in Mills Reservation after curfew.
- On Friday, March 18, at 1:03 a.m., Ptl. Jason Wolfstirn initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed speeding violation. As the officer secured the operator’s credentials, he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the man’s breath, along with signs of impairment. Following a series of standardized field sobriety tests, the officer arrested the 21 year-old Bridgewater man on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was also charged with being in possession of drug paraphernalia (a glass pipe).
- On Saturday, March 19th. at 3:17 a.m., Lt. John Kennedy initiated a motor vehicle stop for observed violations. As the officer secured the operator’s credentials, he detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of a 24 year-old Little Falls woman after she was found to be in possession of CDS marijuana (under 50g) and drug paraphernalia.
