Cedar Grove Police Arrest Alleged Auto Swindler...Again

Second arrest in 3 weeks for Verona man.

After he was arrested last month for allegedly defrauding victims out of nearly a quarter of a million dollars while operating as a crooked online automobile broker, 22-year-old Thomas Miller was arrested again this week when another victim surfaced, police said Monday.

Last month, Cedar Grove Police arrested and charged Miller, of Verona, with five counts of theft and theft by deception. Police say five separate victims came forward to report they had never received vehicles they purchased via Miller's website, which he operated using an Alicia Court address under the business name New Jersey Automotive Consultants LLC.

Miller was arrested on Feb. 9 following a joint investigation by the Cedar Grove Police detective bureau and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Economic Crime Unit. Police say the total amount the victims have reported stolen was $248,000.
