Police activity Jan. 11-14

At 12:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, Ptl. Dominick Buscio initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed speeding violation. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the vehicle operator after he was found to be wanted on an outstanding traffic warrant issued by the East Hanover Court. The 23-year-old defendant, Charles S. Norman III, of Cedar Grove, was processed at police headquarters and released after posting the required bail.

At 5:34 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, police responded to a Glen Rock Road residence on a report of a burglary. A subsequent investigation revealed that some unknown person(s) had forcibly entered the home sometime between 11 a.m. and the time of the report. Upon entry, the actor(s) ransacked a bedroom and removed items of jewelry. Police canvassed the area for possible witnesses and the detective bureau processed the scene for physical evidence. Any person that may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact detectives at 973-239-4100.

At 7:29 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, police responded to the CVS Pharmacy located at 387 Pompton Avenue on a report that an individual was attempting to obtain a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) by means of a fraudulent prescription. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of 53-year-old Leroy Murphy of Newark on charges that he attempted to obtain CDS Roxicodone with a forged, fraudulent prescription. A check of the New Jersey Wanted Person System (NJWPS) revealed that Murphy was also wanted on an outstanding criminal warrant issued by the Essex County Sheriff’s Department. The defendant was processed on all charges at police headquarters and turned over to Sheriff’s Officers at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark. Ptl. Eileen O’Toole, Ptl. Dominick Buscio and Sgt. Erik Hansson were the investigating officers.

At 8:27 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13, Ptl. Michael Grasso initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation. A subsequent check of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) computer revealed that the operator’s NJ driving privileges were under suspension. The 55-year-old operator, Christine R. Dzwonkowski of Belleville, was arrested on the charge and transported to headquarters for processing. A subsequent check of the Automated Complaint System (ACS) revealed that Dzwonkowski was also wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by the Belleville Court. The defendant was processed on all charges and released after posting the required bail.

At 12:06 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, Ptl. Jason Wolfstirn initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed speeding violation. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the vehicle operator after he was found to be wanted on an outstanding traffic warrant issued by the Hasbrouck Heights Court. The defendant was processed at police headquarters and released after posting the required bail.
