
On Monday, Feb. 7, Cedar Grove police arrested an undocumented New Brunswick immigrant on several driving-related charges.
Jose Reyes, 26, was charged with presenting a false driver’s license, hindering apprehension or prosecution, and operating a motor vehicle with suspended New Jersey driving privileges.
According to police, a Glen Rock Road resident reported a car idling at the curb on the street.

Officers arrived and questioned Reyes, who presented a fraudulent California driver’s license with someone else’s name on it.
After further investigation, police determined Reyes was an unlicensed driver with suspended New Jersey driving privileges and he was an undocumented immigrant.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was contacted and detained Reyes.
He was processed and transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark pending the outcome of the ICE investigation.

On Wednesday, Feb. 9, Cedar Grove police charged a 22-year-old township man with five counts of theft and five counts of theft by deception.
Thomas J. Miller was charged following a joint investigation conducted by the township detective bureau and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crime Unit into allegations that Miller committed the thefts while acting as an automobile broker.
Five separate victims told police they had seen the defendant’s vehicle advertisements on the Internet and subsequently sent money to Miller for the purchase of vehicles.
The victims all reported the advertised vehicles were never delivered and the money sent to Miller was never returned.
The aggregate dollar amount reported stolen by the victims was $248,000, according to police.
Miller was processed and served with the complaints at police headquarters and released pending a Feb. 17 Superior Court arraignment.

On Wednesday, Feb. 9, police investigated a report of a theft that occurred at the Cedar Grove High School.
The victim told police on Feb. 7 someone broke into his gym locker and stole a pair of sneakers. The stolen sneakers were described as black Nike Lebrons valued at $160.

On Friday, Feb. 11, police arrested a Newark man on drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Christian J. Randazzo, 44, was charged with heroin possession, three hypodermic needles and was under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.
Police were called to investigate a report of a man passed out in a parked car in the lot of a Pompton Avenue bank.
When police arrived, they discovered Randazzo sleeping in the passenger seat of the car. He was holding a hypodermic needle in his hand along with a plastic cap holding a liquid believed to be heroin, police said.
After several minutes, officers were able to wake the man, who appeared to be under the influence of heroin, and subsequently arrested him.
Randazzo was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released pending a Feb. 17 arraignment in Newark.

Also on Feb. 11, Sgt. Erik Hansson stopped a car after a traffic violation.
Jerrell S. Cox, 27, of Orange, was arrested by Cedar Grove police after his New Jersey driving privileges were found to be both expired and under suspension.
Cox was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.

On Saturday, Feb. 12, a West Orange man on arrested for a variety of motor vehicle charges.
Police said Jose L. Jordan, 38, was arrested for operating an uninsured motor vehicle bearing a suspended New Jersey registration while his driving privileges were suspended.
Jordan was processed on the charges at police headquarters and released pending a municipal court appearance.
His car, a 2005 Ford Explorer, was impounded.

Also on Saturday, Cedar Grove police arrested a Montclair man on a charge that he was operating a motor vehicle with suspended privileges.
Eric J. Dominguez, 44, was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.
