
At 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, a 21-year-old woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Ptl. Jose Rodriguez pulled over the driver, Farah Dorcely, of Orange, for an observed violation. upon checking the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) computer, Rodriguez learned Dorcely's driving privileges were under suspension. Dorcely was arrested on the charge, processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

At 12:57 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, police arrested Christine Randina, 30, of Riverdale, at the CVS Pharmacy at 387 Pompton Ave. on a report that she was attempting to obtain a Controlled Dangerous Substance by means of a fraudulent prescription. A subsequent investigation resulted in her arrest on charges that she was attempting to obtain the painkiller Oxycodone by means of a forged prescription. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed on the charges and released pending arraignment in Superior Court. Ptl. Michael Grasso was the investigating officer.

At 11:17 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, police responded to the area of Pompton Avenue and Stevens Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a deer. A subsequent investigation revealed that the involved vehicle had been traveling north on Pompton when a deer ran into the roadway resulting in a collision. The involved vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet, sustained reportable property damage. The deer ran into a wooded area and could not be located. Due to the large deer population in the area, motorists are advised to use caution when operating near wooded areas, especially between dusk and dawn.

On Friday, Feb. 25, police investigated a report of a theft that occurred at the Memorial Middle School. The victim reported that sometime between Feb. 18-23, some unknown person(s) removed two pairs of sneakers from her unlocked gym locker. The aggregate value of the stolen property was $125.

At 9:04 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, Sgt. Frank Pumphrey arrested a 48-year-old Little Falls man on charges of driving an uninsured vehicle with a suspended registration and license. The arrest came after he initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Douglas J. Heidt. Heidt was processed on the charges at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. The defendant’s vehicle, a 2008 Jeep Liberty, was impounded.

At 3:41 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, police responded to the Canfield Office Park on Pompton Avenue on a report that a Policemen's Benevolent Association shield was stolen from the windshield of a parked motor vehicle. The victim reported that some unknown person had entered her vehicle and stolen the shield sometime between 8 a.m. and noon. The shield was subsequently entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer as a stolen article.

At 9:21 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, police charged an East Rutherford man with driving with a suspended registration. The 28-year-old, Kenneth H. Hugo, was cited for the violation and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. The defendant’s vehicle, a 2010 Jeep Wrangler, was impounded. Ptl. Eileen O’Toole was the investigating officer.

At 12:11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, Ptl. Jose Rodriguez arrested a Montclair man after he observed his vehicle being operated in an erratic manner. As the officer secured the operator’s credentials, he detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on the man’s breath, along with other signs of impairment. Following a series of standardized field sobriety tests, the officer arrested the 32-year-old operator, Alexey G. Kuvshinov, on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was processed on the charge at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.
