Police activity July 25-28.

The following reports were provided by the Cedar Grove Police and do not indicate a conviction.

On Monday, July 25 at 10:30 a.m., Ptl. Robert McDermott initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation.  A subsequent check of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) computer revealed that the operator’s driving privileges were under suspension.  The 54 year-old operator, Lauriel A. Cole of Orange, was arrested on the charge, processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

On Tuesday, July 26 at 12:45 a.m., police arrested a Newark man on a charge that he was operating a motor vehicle while his NJ driving privileges were under suspension.  The 56 year-old operator, Juan D. Paulino, was processed on the charge at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.  Ptl. Jose Rodriguez was the arresting officer.

On Tuesday, July 26 at 7:41 p.m., police responded to Reservoir Drive on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.  A subsequent investigation revealed that the involved motorcycle had been traveling west towards Ridge Road when the operator lost control of the vehicle on a curve in the roadway.  The operator was thrown from the motorcycle, which flipped and left the roadway.  The operator, a 19 year-old Nutley man, suffered a shoulder injury in the crash and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson for treatment.  No charges were filed.

On Wednesday, July 27, police arrested 11 persons (9 adults, 2 juveniles) that were found trespassing in a building located on the west side of Fairview Avenue in the old Essex County Hospital Center.  The incident leading to the arrests initiated at 3:58 a.m. when Ptl. Jose Rodriguez stopped to investigate three suspicious vehicles parked in the Hilltop Reservation Parking Lot. While checking the area, the officer heard banging come from the building and subsequently encountered and arrested the group.  The adult defendants were identified as Marjo Stroni, 21, of Saddle Brook, Mariglen Oshafi, 21, of Lodi, Arbi Dokaj, 19, of Lodi, Anthony Damato Jr., 19, of Garfield, Nikola Skurteski, 18, of Garfield, Armand Jonusllari, 19, of Garfield, Nehat Ismani, 19, of Garfield, Marie S. Marececa, 18, of Garfield, and Klaudia K. Nalodka, 19, of Little Ferry. The juvenile defendants were identified as 16 year-old residents of Little Falls and Garfield. All subjects were processed and released pending court proceedings, with the exception of Armand Jonusllari, who was turned over to the Wallington Police on outstanding traffic warrants out of that jurisdiction. Ptl. Eileen O’Toole, Ptl. Dominick Buscio and the Essex County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.

On Wednesday, July 27 at 2:27 p.m., a Frederick Court resident reported the theft of a motor vehicle.  The victim reported that sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, some unknown person(s) removed his 2010 Mercedes Benz from his driveway.  The vehicle was subsequently entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer stolen vehicle file.

On Thursday, July 28 at 1:10 a.m., Ptl. Jason Rivers initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation.  A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the vehicle operator on a charge that he was operating while his Pennsylvania driving privileges were under suspension.  The 36 year-old defendant, Wilfredo Rivera Jr. of Middle Village, NY, was processed on the charge at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.
