Cedar Grove Police Investigating Vanderberg Place Burglary

Police advise residents to take precautions, be alert for suspicious activities.

Police are currently investigating a burglary to a Vanderberg Place residence that took place on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Officers initially responded to the home at 6:00 p.m. on a report of an intrusion alarm and discovered an open front door. An interior check revealed that the home had been forcibly entered through the back and the suspect or suspects had left the scene prior to police arriving. The homeowner was subsequently notified and reported the home was secure at 4:30 p.m.

During a canvas of the neighborhood, a neighbor reported that his dogs were barking at 5:50 p.m. and it is believed that the burglary was occurring at that time. The detective bureau processed the scene for physical evidence and is now conducting a follow-up investigation. The homeowner did not immediately know if anything was missing.
