Police Seek ATM Skimmer In Essex County
Have you seen this man? He allegedly tried to install a skimming device at a Pompton Avenue bank in Cedar Grove.
The Cedar Grove Police Department is seeking the public’s help identifying a man suspected of trying to install an ATM skimming device at the Columbia Bank on Pompton Avenue.
According to police:
“On Saturday, June 20, a skimming device and camera were discovered attached to the outdoor ATM machine at the Columbia Bank on Pompton Avenue. An investigation revealed the suspect responsible for installing the devices arrived at the bank at 3:52 p.m. [He] first installed a wireless camera to the top of the ATM and then installed a skimming device over the traditional debit card input port. The suspect’s actions apparently triggered the ATM’s internal alarm, resulting in the bank manager’s response and discovery of the devices.”

Police continued:
“At this time it does not appear the suspect obtained any customer information. Police are seeking to identity the pictured suspect and ask anyone with information to contact detectives at 973-239-4100.”
