Cedar Grove Police Swear in New Officer
John Smigelsky township's first new officer in nearly five years.

Much of the Cedar Grove Police Department was on hand at Monday's Township Council meeting as Mayor Robert O'Toole administered the oath of office to Ptl. John Smigelsky, who Township Manager Thomas Tucci said was the township's first newly-minted police officer in nearly five years.
Smigelsky, a graduate of Cedar Grove High School, has been involved with the department for several years as a dispatcher before being named to the force. He has also been an active member of the North End Fire Company.
Holding the Bible during his swearing in was his father, Joseph Smigelsky, a longtime member of the North End Fire Company.
