Cedar Grove Promotes Two Officers
Sgt. Erik Hansson promoted to Lieutenant, Det. Andrew McPhail promoted to Sergeant.
The Cedar Grove Police Department promoted two veteran officers at a ceremony at Township Hall packed with family and friends Monday night.
Sgt. Erik Hansson, a 13-year veteran of the department, was promoted to Lieutenant, and took the oath on a Bible held by his wife, Alyssa, read by Mayor Robert O'Toole.
"Thank you to my wife and family for their support, and I want to thank supervisors ive had that taught me enough to put me in a position where I could do this," Hansson said following his swearing in.

Det. Andrew McPhail, who has served the Cedar Grove Police Department for 23 years, was the next officer to take the oath. McPhail was sworn in on a bible held by his wife, Elaine.
"I'd like to thank my fellow officers for all their support, and thanks to my wife and family for being here," Hansson said.

According to a Police Salary Ordinance passed by the Township Council in March, Hansson's salary including longevity and holiday pay will be $116,957 for the year. McPhail's total compensation for 2011 will be $108,442.
