In Cedar Grove: Slashed Tire to BMW, Car Hits Deer, Suspended License

Police Blotter: May 11 to 17

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Cedar Grove Police Blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On Wednesday, May 13, at 10:49 p.m., police responded to the area of Pompton and Stevens Avenues on a 911 report that a deer had been struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, police discovered the badly injured in the roadway. Due to the deer’s severe injuries, it was necessary for police to destroy the animal. The involved vehicle had left the scene prior to police arrival. Due to the large deer population in the area, motorists are urged to use caution when operating near wooded areas, especially between dusk and dawn.

On Thursday, May 14, an East Lindsley Road resident reported an act of criminal mischief to her parked motor vehicle. The victim reported sometime during the overnight hours, some unknown person(s) punctured a tire on her 2014 BMW with a knife. Cost to replace the damaged tire was unknown at the time of report.

On Friday, May 15, at 4:38 p.m., Ptl. Dominick Buscio initiated a motor vehicle for observed violations. A subsequent check of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) computer revealed the operator’s driving privileges were under suspension. The 33 year-old operator, Abdulsama O. Harsouni of Elmwood Park, was arrested on the charge and transported to police headquarters for processing. A check of the Automated Traffic System (ATS) revealed Harsouni was wanted on several outstanding warrants issued by the East Brunswick and Elmwood Park Courts. The defendant was processed on all charges and released after posting the required bail.
