In Cedar Grove: Teen Threatened with Knife, DWI, Driving While Suspended

On Tuesday, May 19, at 1:33 a.m., police charged a Verona man with operating a motor vehicle while his NJ driving privileges were under suspension. The 30 year-old defendant, Anthony J. Deluca, was cited for the violation and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Ptl. Michael Passafiume was the investigating officer.

On Tuesday, May 19, at 5:15 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed speeding violation. A subsequent check of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission computer revealed the operator’s driving privileges were under suspension. The 23 year-old operator, Eric J. Revelli of Clifton, was arrested on the charge, processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

On Wednesday, May 20, at 5:30 p.m., Ptl. Jose Rodriguez initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation. A subsequent check of the NJMVC computer revealed the operator’s driving privileges were under suspension. The 23 year-old operator, Marcus Benoit of Irvington, was arrested on the charge, processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

On Thursday, May 21, at 1:57 a.m., Ptl. Dominick Buscio initiated a motor vehicle stop after observing a vehicle being operated without headlights. A subsequent check of the NJMVC computer revealed the operator’s driving privileges were under suspension. The 28 year-old operator, Alana E. Morrison of Newark, was arrested on the charge, processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

On Thursday, May 21, at 2:58 a.m., Lt. John Kennedy initiated a motor vehicle stop after observing a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner. As the officer secured the operator’s credentials, he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the woman’s breath, along with signs of impairment. Following a series of standardized field sobriety tests, the 22 year-old operator, Sabrina T. Clayton of Orange, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. The defendant was processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Ptl. Raymond Cassella assisted in the investigation.

On Thursday, May 21, police arrested a township man on simple assault and weapons possession charges. The arrest of 19 year-old Thomas J. Kelly Jr. followed a 9:26 p.m. investigation into a report made by a 16 year-old Township juvenile that Kelly first assaulted him and then threatened him with a knife on the Essex County Bicycle Path near Bowden Road. Kelly was processed on charges of assault and possession of weapon (knife) under circumstances not manifestly appropriate for such possession and released pending a Superior Court Arraignment in Newark. The two parties were known to each prior to the incident and the victim was not injured in the incident. Ptl. Dominick Buscio and Det. Michael Tower were the investigating officers.

On Saturday, May 23, at 1 a.m., police arrested a Newark man on a charge he was operating a motor vehicle while his NJ driving privileges were under suspension. The 29 year-old defendant, Allan J. Catchpole, was processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Ptl. Jason Wolfstirn was the arresting officer.

On Sunday, May 24, at 3:33 a.m., Ptl. Jason Wolfstirn initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation. A subsequent investigation revealed the vehicle was unregistered and the operator’s NY driving privileges were under suspension. The 21 year-old operator, Salvatore M. Rich of Tempe, AZ, was arrested on the charges, processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

On Sunday, May 24, at 8:05 p.m., Ptl. Jason Wolfstirn initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation. A subsequent check of the NJMVC computer revealed the operator’s driving privileges were under suspension. The 37 year-old operator, Imad K. Nababtem of Paterson, was arrested on the charge, processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.
