Community Helped Us Find Missing Essex County Teen, Cops Say

GLEN RIDGE, NJ — Glen Ridge police asked for help finding a missing 13-year-old. Local residents and the teen’s family members hit the streets.
And that night, the teen was found safe, authorities said.
On Wednesday, the Glen Ridge Police Department thanked the community for rallying behind their effort to find a missing teen, who was last seen on Midland Avenue, and was considered “endangered.”

Police said the community's assistance was "incredible,” and directly assisted with locating the teen.

On Thursday, Glen Ridge police issued a statement about the “continuous search” that was conducted by officers, local residents and the youth’s family.

“At approximately 11:25 p.m., a resident, who was out searching for the juvenile notified police headquarters of a person matching his description who was walking on Glenwood Avenue in Bloomfield. Police units responded and located the individual on Glenwood Avenue and Second Street, the person was positively identified as the missing child. He was determined to be unharmed. There were no other actors involved in this incident, to preserve confidentiality for the juvenile and family no additional details will be released.”
