Cops and Rockers Set to Tear the Roof Off Friday in Verona

After the success of tour-de-force rock performance by several local bands, Cops & Rockers II is coming to Verona High School.

Cops & Rockers was founded by Sgt. Dan Greco along with support from his fellow members of Verona PBA Local No. 72. The idea was simple... to give local kids a chance to show off their talents at a battle of the bands and give them the ultimate rock star experience! The Verona kids put on an amazing show last year for the first annual Cops & Rockers show! This year, the word got out and the bands came out of the woodwork. There are currently nine bands competing for the grand prize which will be a day in the recording studio courtesy of Cat Eyez Studios in Verona.

Each band will showcase one original song along with a few popular covers. The Cops will also be dusting off their instruments and will attempt to rock out with the kids. It is not an event to be missed. The winner will be announced via a live text vote at the end of the show which will be displayed on a screen. 

Thanks to the assistance of Rocktec Music of Verona, The bands are will have a stage set up that will prove to be an experience that they will not forget.  Rocktec owner, Rich Ciricillo will be providing a backline of quality instruments for the kids to use, as well as fog machines and PA equipment.  Rocktec is also donating two Dean Guitars to be raffled off for the audience.

The entire show will be professionally recorded (audio and video) and will be  mixed by Bob Agosto of Cat Eyez Studios, who will also sync up the produced audio with the three camera video shoot of the performance. Even if the kids don’t win the grand prize, they are sure to have an incredible memory captured on CD/DVD.

Chris Segarra of Legendery Entertainment will be the emcee for the event and MyVeronaNJ.com, the media sponsor of Cops & Rockers, will be making it possible for the audience to vote by cell phone for their favorite acts during the show. 

Professional Drummer, Segdrick Marsh will also be at the show to show off his skills and talk to the kids about being a professional musician. At the age of 20 he played on over 40 records at age 24 he began touring playing for R&B singer Donnell Jones from there his career took off. Lately he's been playing for Patti Labelle he'd made seven television appearances he's endorsed with Ddrum, Vic Firth, TRX cymbals and Evans drum heads. There will be giveaways and raffles courtesy of Marsh and his endorsees.

Our partners in planning the show are The VMPA (The Verona Music Parent Association).  Beth Smillie of the VMPA (along with her colleagues) has been a tremendous asset to the planning and execution of Cops & Rockers. 

All of the proceeds from Cops & Rockers go directly to the Verona Music Program as well as the P.B.A. Scholarship Fund.  These scholarships are given to select deserving Verona students every year!  This show is a lot of fun and directly benefits our kids…The future of Rock & Roll!

The show will be held at the Verona High School Auditorium, 151 Fairview Avenue, Verona..  Doors open at 5:00pm.
