Drunken Driver Hits Hydrant, Leaves Scene, Cops Say
A Cedar Grove woman faces charges including driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.

A township resident faces several charges, including driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident, following a motor vehicle crash Sunday, according to Cedar Grove Police.
Maria Lopez, 45, backed into a fire hydrant on Westland Road at about 7:15 p.m. and left the scene, according to a police statement.
There were no injuries in the crash, police said.

Patrolman Jose Rodriguez located the vehicle and Lopez on Harper Terrace while investigating a report of a possibly intoxicated driver, Police Chief Richard Vanderstreet said.
Lopez, who also faces a charge of failing to report a motor vehicle crash, was arrested and released pending a Municipal Court appearance, the statement said.
