Fishing and Heroin: Police Arrest Two Men in Cedar Grove
Pair were fishing at the Newark Reservoir, one had small amount of heroin in his possession.

On Saturday, May 9, Cedar Grove police responded to the rear of the Newark Reservoir on Reservoir Drive on a report of two persons attempting to enter the property through the fence.
Responding officers conducted an area search and located Raymond A. Chavies, 50, of Orange and James M. Randolph, 48, of Montclair, inside the fence fishing near the shore of the reservoir.
According to police, the pair had opened a portion of fence secured by wire and made entry to property in violation of posted No Trespassing signs.

During a subsequent search, police found two, small glassine envelopes containing heroin on Randolph, who was later discovered to have an outstanding warrant out of Montclair.
The two men were arrested on criminal trespassing charges, and released pending a court appearance.
