The Children's Institute and The Center for Independence

For Immediate Release:

VERONA (October 15, 2014) – The 2014 Fore the Kids Golf Tournament was a “hole-in-one” on Sept. 15, raising money for a good cause and bringing together golfers, New Jersey businesses and families, all to support The Children’s Institute in Livingston and Verona and its adult program, The Center for Independence.

More than $100,000 was raised at the fourth annual event at the Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone to support The Children’s Institute (TCI) and its many programs including its growing adult training program, The Center for Independence.

Under the leadership of co-chairs James Hunter of Whippany and Tom Releford of East Hanover and with support from founder Michael Conley of Mendham, a volunteer committee succeeded in the course with over 100 golfers committed to making a difference for the individuals at TCI. Students from TCI’s High School Film Program captured the golf swings of every participant as they visited the 10th hole, which were shown at the cocktail hour afterwards. As an added bonus, the students also created a TCI Fore the Kids Golf Tournament promotional video.

Golfers and guests enjoyed dinner, as well as a silent and live auction, which together raised over $35,000. The event’s success can be attributed to the event chairs and the volunteer committee, the staff and students at the school, who assisted with preparations, our many corporate and individual donors, as well as the attendees, he said.
