Jake’s Limo: Providing Your Lavish Ride to Prom

For John Kaiser, cars are everything. For the past 13 years, he has been the sole owner and manager of Jake’s Limos.

Based in Florham Park and Parsippany, Jake’s Limo serves the surrounding area including Cedar Grove, and is one of few local limo services to offer options for prom-goers.

Many makes of limousines are available for students to take to prom in the next few weeks. While the Lincoln Stretch is the typical limousine most people imagine, “the most popular limo to take to prom this year is the Ford SUV, which hold 14 people” said Kaiser, based on his rentals so far this year. Jake’s Limo also has limo buses and party buses to rent for the evening, which hold between 24-30 people.

Although there are many types of limos available to stylishly ride into prom, there is a limit as to how many cars can go out in one night. “I’ve rented about 30 cars to proms so far this year,” Kaiser said recently. Not all of these rentals are for the Cedar Grove prom, but it is better to rent sooner than later, as Kaiser is not sure how many more orders he will receive.

The high number of rentals for prom might have something to do with Jake’s Limo’s pricing. While other events require limos for all-day affairs, Kaiser recognizes prom is shorter, and creates his prom rates accordingly.

“I don’t force people into deals, because prom is only about six hours,” said Kaiser.

Parents can also feel safe sending their kids to prom in one of these limos, given Kaiser’s strict drug and alcohol policy. “I do not allow drinking, smoking, or drugs inside the cars,” he said.

Just as Valentine’s Day and Christmas motivate a greater number of limo rentals, prom has the same effect. In the car service industry, prom is practically considered its own holiday.

“It’s a seasonal business. During prom season, we get a lot busier,” added Kaiser.
