Man Arrested After Ramming Essex County Sheriff's Officer's Vehicle in Cedar Grove
Police: 59-year-old intentionally rammed his car into rear of officer's vehicle.

The Essex County Sheriff's Office arrested a 59-year-old man on aggravated assault charges after he intentionally rammed his car into the back of a vehicle being driven by an on-duty Sheriff's Officer, Cedar Grove Police Chief Richard Vanderstreet said Friday.
The incident happened at approximately 7:25 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, near Food Town on Pompton Avenue in Cedar Grove. Vanderstreet said the Cedar Grove police received a call requesting assistance for the officer, who was apparently struggling with the suspect while placing him under arrest.

Cedar Grove officers responded to the scene, and assisted the officer in bringing the suspect under control. The Sheriff's Office then took the man into custody.
Vanderstreet deferred further questions to the Essex County Sheriff's Office, however a representative could not be immediately reached at press time.
