Man Brandishes a Tactical Knife During Loud Cedar Grove House Party

Cops break up the party without injuries.

A Massachusetts man was arrested during a rowdy house party in Cedar Grove on Friday night when police observed him waving a tactical knife in an allegedly threatening manner.

According to police, officers responded to a noise complaint about a large party on Devonshire Road around 11 p.m. On arrival, one of the officers heard yelling and profanity coming from the backyard which sounded like a “fight in progress.”

The officer then allegedly saw Eric Mackay, 18, of Danvers, Mass., “brandishing and waving a tactical knife in a threatening manner.”

Mackay complied with the officer’s commands to put down the knife, and he was arrested without further incident. He was processed at police headquarters for possessing a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and was released pending a Superior Court arraignment in Newark.

Police said that the party was disbursed without further incident, and the homeowner was cited for violation of municipal noise ordinance.
