Montclair Pair Arrested on Prescription Fraud Charges

Two women attempted to fill numerous prescriptions at CVS, but pharmacist became suspicious, police said.

Cedar Grove police arrested two Montclair women Thursday, March 28 on prescription fraud charges one day after the women allegedly attempted to fill several prescriptions for controlled-dangerous substances, officials said.

Marcia L. McCotter, 64, and Sara F. McCotter, 68 allegedly attempted to fill numerous prescriptions at the CVS Pharmacy located at 387 Pompton Ave. in Cedar Grove for Tylenol with Codeine ― a controlled-dangerous substance (CDS) ― with fraudulent, stolen prescription slips, police said.

The pharmacist became suspicious of the number of prescriptions McCotter wanted to fill on Wednesday, March 27, Cedar Grove Police Chief Richard Vanderstreet said. The women left the prescriptions with the pharmacist to be picked up later, officials said.
