Our Lady of the Lake School Live Stations of the Cross

Walking in His Footsteps

The seventh grade students at Our Lady of the Lake School took part in the Lenten tradition of praying the stations or “way” of the cross. This devotional prayer helps Catholics walk in Jesus’ footsteps, and envision his pain, suffering and death by crucifixion. The children walked through each of the fourteen stations and said a prayer with a short moment of pause. The tradition of moving around the Stations to commemorate the Passion of Christ began with St. Francis of Assisi and extended throughout the Roman Catholic Church in the medieval period. It is most commonly done during Lent, especially on Good Friday, but it can be done on other days as well, especially Wednesdays and Fridays.
