Verona, Cedar Grove Police handle multiple instances of downed trees, damaged property in storm's wake.

Police in Verona and Cedar Grove had their hands full when Irene blew through town. Dozens of reports of flooded basements, downed trees, power outages and property damage kept the men and women in blue on their feet all weekend long. What follows are the reports of incidents related to damage caused by Irene.

Cedar Grove police responded to numerous incidents of flooding, downed wires and property damage. Several roadways, including Pompton Avenue in the center of town, Little Falls Road and Montclair Avenue, were temporarily closed due to flooding at the height of the storm. Police also received numerous reports from residents reporting flooded basements. The ensuing high winds resulted in dozens of downed trees and tree limbs which took down power lines and damaged several homes and parked vehicles.  Several roads, including areas of Pompton Avenue, were closed until PSE&G could respond and repair downed power lines. No storm related injuries were reported.

4:08 a.m. Sylvan Road. A large tree fell onto two vehicles and was resting on a power line.

4:32 a.m. Howard Street. A tree fell and struck a residence causing damage to the roof, gutters, awning porch and an interior second floor wall.

5:00 a.m. Linden Avenue. Report of basement flooding.

5:12 a.m. Cypress Avenue. A tree branch fell pulling power and phone lines from a home.

5:32 a.m. Kenwood Avenue. A tree branch fell causing damage to a fence.

7:25 a.m. Rockland Terrace. A tree branch fell damaging the roof of a residence.

9:00 a.m. Fairview Avenue. A tree came down damaging a residence, two vehicles and a deck.

9:14 a.m. Sunset Avenue. Sewage backup into basement.

9:28 a.m. Linden Avenue. Sewage backup.

9:37 a.m. Sunset Avenue. Sewage backup.

9:39 a.m. Brookside Terrace. Sewage backup.

10:15 a.m. Midwood Avenue. A tree fell causing damage to a vehicle.

10:44 a.m. Several basement apartments on Verona Place were vacated due to flooding.

11:10 a.m. Brookdale Court resident reported several feet of water in his basement.

11:17 a.m. A Bloomfield Avenue building found to be severely flooded was vacated.

11:44 a.m. Cypress Avenue. Tree branch fell causing damage to the front of a residence.

1:25 p.m. Ozone Avenue. Sewage backup in basement shower.

1:28 p.m. Franklin Street. Sewage backup in basement.

1:35 p.m. Bloomfield Avenue. Sewage backup in basement.

2:01 p.m. Verona Place. Flood water in basement.

2:36 p.m. Hillside Avenue. Damage to pool and filter due to water run off of construction debris.

3:06 p.m. Forest Avenue. Electric lines pulled from residence damaging siding and gutters.

3:18 p.m. Upland Way. Damage to residence due to tree falling.

3:45 p.m. Fairview Avenue. Flooding of basement reported.

4:46 p.m. Elmwood Road. Tree fell causing damage to fence, garage driveway, paver wall and vehicle.

4:47 p.m. Westover Road. Flooding of basement.

5:14 p.m. Overhill Road. Large tree branch fell causing damage to vehicle.

11:14 p.m. Cumberland Avenue. Tree fell causing damage to garage and deck of residence.
