Police: Newark Man Arrested in Connection With Multiple Verona Burglaries
Jose Borgos, 57, of Newark is responsible for two recent burglaries in Verona, police said.

A Newark man, arrested for attempted burglary in Verona, racked up several additional charges after police linked him to an April break-in, Verona Police said in a written statement.
Jose Borgos, 57, was arrested on Monday, May 6, for attempting to break into a home on Derwent Avenue and for giving false information, said Verona Police Chief Douglas Huber.
Borgos was also charged with criminal mischief, burglary and theft after an additional investigation into a burglary on Mount Prospect Avenue on April 26.

“The resident reported returning home to find that the front door had been kicked in and the home entered,” police said in April. “Once in the home the suspect entered the bedrooms and went through the dressers.”
The resident told police that several pieces of jewelry and an iPad were missing.

Borgos has pending charges with other police departments for burglary, theft, criminal mischief and receiving stolen property, said Huber.
Borgos is currently in county jail and will be arraigned in Newark.
