Crime & Safety
Remember: School is Open, Drive Safely
Verona Police remind motorists to pay extra attention as school opens tomorrow.

With schools opening this week, the Verona Police Department would like to remind you of the following:
Children are excited to be back in school. They are looking for their friends and classmates and not paying attention to the cars, trucks and buses around them.
- Please pay extra attention while driving and allow sufficient time to reach your destination. There will be extra traffic due to schools opening.
- Be familiar with the locations of the crossing guards in your area and please obey their signals. Be prepared to stop when they enter the roadway.
- Cell phone use is not only illegal and dangerous; it's also setting a bad example for the little ones.
- Car seats, seat belts and rear seat laws are in effect because they have been proven to be extremely effective during a motor vehicle crash. Please don't become a statistic or the recipient of a traffic ticket for not having your children properly secured. The Verona Police Department will be happy to assist you with the proper installation of your car seats. Please feel free to call us and make an appointment.
We understand that you are in a hurry and need to get the kids off to school as quickly as possible, but please remember to not only drive carefully, but also to park legally.
