In Verona: Car theft, Stolen license plates, Road rage, Home burglary
Police Blotter: March 20 to 27

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Verona Police Blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
3/20/2015
7:54 AM - Officer Bill Frazee took a report of a motor vehicle theft from a Harrison Street resident. The resident reported that his vehicle was stolen from the driveway in the past half hour. At 6:04 PM Newark Police contacted Verona Police that they had located the vehicle. The owner was advised how to pick up her vehicle.

10:49 AM - Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of property damage from a Bloomfield Avenue business. The business reported that a vehicle had driven away from the gas pump with the nozzle still attached. Value of damage is unknown at this time.
2:46 PM - Officer Chris Scheper took a report of a stolen wallet at a Pompton Avenue business. The wallet contained cash, credit cards and personal identification.

3:56 PM - Officer Justin Nielsen took a report of lost property from an Elmwood Road resident. The resident reported the front license plate form her vehicle is missing. She was advised to contact the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission to turn in the remaining plate and obtain new plates.
4:53 PM - Officer Thomas Conroy took a report of lost property from a Mt Prospect Avenue resident. The resident reported the front license plate form her vehicle is missing. She was advised to contact the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission to turn in the remaining plate and obtain new plates.

12:50 PM - Officer Erin McGarrity took a report of a fraud from a Harrison Street resident. The resident reported that she observed several unauthorized charges on her credit card. She has been in contact with her bank and was provided with identity theft information.
3/24/2015
4:21 PM - Officer McGarrity took a report of a road rage incident from an Irvington resident. The resident reported he had a road rage incident on Grove Avenue with another motorist. He was able to get a license plate of the vehicle and was advised of complaint procedures.
8:13 PM - Officer Mike Barone took a report of a burglary from a Linden Avenue resident. The resident reported that her home had been burglarized during the past 2 hours. Officers observed damage to the rear door. The resident will be compiling a list of missing items.
3/25/2015
9:06 AM - Officer John Lecreux arrested William Rogers of Montclair after he was sentenced to jail by the Verona Municipal Court. After processing he was transported to the Essex County Jail.
5:11 PM - Sgt. Paul Watkins took a report of a lost wallet from a Claridge Drive resident. The resident reported she lost her wallet which contained her Driver’s license, bank card, personal identification and a small amount of cash. She cancelled her bank cards and was provided with information to obtain a duplicate driver’s license.
3/26/2015
3:27 PM - Officer Steve Young responded with the Verona Fire Department to a reported smoke alarm on Midwood Avenue. Smoke was observed coming from a chimney and inside the house. The fire in the fireplace was extinguished by the fire department and the smoke was vented from the house. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.
4:26 PM - Officer Scheper took a report of a fraud from a Hemlock Drive resident. The resident reported numerous unauthorized charges on her debit card. She has been in touch with her bank and the card was canceled. She was provided with identity theft information.
