In Verona: Computer virus, Identity and jewelry thefts, burglary and dog dispute

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Verona Police Blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
3/13/2015
3:56 PM - Officer Chris Scheper took a report of a fraud from a Gordon Place resident. The resident reported she received a message on her computer stating that her computer may have a virus and to contact a phone number show on the screen. Upon contacting the number she was provided with a code so they could access her computer. They then advised her to take her computer to Best Buy to have the virus removed. The resident did not provide any personal information but believes this was a scam. The resident was provided with Identity Theft information.

4:14 PM - Officer Steve Young took a report of Identity theft form a Marion Road resident. The resident reported she was notified by the IRS that her Social Security number was used on another return that was filed with the IRS. The resident has been in contact with the IRS and was provided with Identity Theft information.

5:51 AM - Officer Ed Ruff took a report of a burglary at a Bloomfield Avenue business. Officers responded on burglar alarm activation and found that the front door had been forced open. The business owner responded and reported nothing appears to be missing at this time.
6:40 PM - Officer Brendan Huber took a report of a theft from a Laurel Court resident. The resident reported that she discovered several items of jewelry missing from her dresser. There were no signs of forced entry to the home and the only person with access other than the resident is the cleaning company.

11:57 AM - Officer John Lecreux took a report of fraud from a Claridge Drive resident. The resident reported there was an attempt to charge several hundred dollars on his American Express Card that was declined. The credit card company is aware of the incident and the resident was given Identity Theft information.
3/17/2015
5:35 PM - Officer Robert Juliano took a report of a dispute from a Wedgewood Drive resident. The resident reported that she is concerned about her neighbor’s dogs as they have been off leash and bark at her. The neighbor states that the resident’s actions cause the dogs to bark. Both parties were advised of complaint procedures.

1:36 PM - Officer Huber took a report of harassment from a Crestmont Place resident. The resident reported while she was walking in the Kips Castle area a male told her that she was not allowed there as it was private property. He also began to film the resident as she walked. She was advised of complaint procedures.
3:09 PM - Officer Juliano took a report of a found license plate on Gould Street. The owner was contacted and picked up the license plate.
4:48 PM - Officer Juliano took a report of a fraud from a Claridge Drive resident. The resident reported his ATM card was stolen and there were several unauthorized transaction made with the card. The resident was in contact with the credit card company
3/19/2015
2:00 AM - Officer Ruff took a report of property damage from an Upland Way resident. The resident reported that a toilet had overflowed on the second floor causing water damage on the first floor and basement levels of the house. Value of the damage is unknown at this time.
11:12 AM - Sgt. Dan Greco took a report of a dispute at a Bloomfield Avenue business. The dispute was between the business owner and an outside company who was providing a rental coffee machine to the business. All parties were advised that this is a civil issue and they should contact their attorneys.
2:40 PM -Officer Chris Scheper took a report of Property damage from a Verona Place resident. The resident reported her outside motion detector light was damaged. Approximate value of damage is $90.
