In Verona: Fall Injury, Tree Branch Damage, Dog Walking Dispute, Identity Theft, Package Larceny

Police Blotter: June 12 to 18

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Verona police blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

6/12/2015

7:08 PM - Sgt. Paul Watkins took a report of property damage from a West Lincoln Street resident. The resident reported a tree branch fell causing damage to her vehicle. Value of the damage is unknown at this time.

9:37 PM - Officer Justin Nielsen took a report of a found wallet on Brookdale Court. The owner was contacted and responded to police headquarters to retrieve his property.

9:59 AM - Officer John Lecreux took a report of property damage from a Forest Avenue resident. The resident reported unknown person(s) damaged her fence. The value of the fence is unknown at this time.

9:09 PM - Officer Nielsen took a report of a neighbor dispute at a Bloomfield Avenue residence. The dispute was about where one of the residents was walking their dog. Officers spoke to both residents and advised them to keep the peace. They were advised to contact building management regarding property rules. They were also advised of complaint procedures.

6/15/2015

10:26 PM - Officer Chris Scheper took a report of harassment from a Bloomfield Avenue business. The business owner reported that he received two calls placing orders for pickup. When the orders were completed they attempted to contact the callers back and were unable to make contact with them. The owner feels these calls may have been made by a former employee. Total of the orders was $106.

6/16/2015

12:48 PM - Officer Scheper took a report of fraud from a Mount Verona Square resident. The resident reported while checking credit reports for her and her husband they discovered two charges that had been sent to collection. She contacted the company and discovered that charges were made using an address in Virginia. The residents did not authorize these charges and advised the collection company who will assist them in having the charges removed. They were provided with identity theft information.

3:36 PM - Officer Mike Barone took a report of a neighbor dispute on Verona Place. The resident reported she had a verbal dispute with o her neighbor after she attempted to speak with him regarding an open bucket of water left on his property. The neighbor began to yell at the resident at which time she contacted the police.

9:13 PM - Officer Nielsen took a report of a theft from a Louisburg Square resident. The resident reported that several boxes of personal items were missing from the garage. The value of the missing items is unknown at this time.

6/17/2015

12:44 PM - Officer Bill Frazee took a report of a larceny from a Louisburg Square resident. The resident reported the theft of a package from her front porch. Value of the items taken was approximately $200.

7:31 PM - Officer Scheper took a report of a suspicious person from a Sunset Avenue resident. The resident reported observing an unknown male walking in his neighbor’s yard with a clipboard. When he contacted his neighbor she stated she was not expecting anyone to her home. When the resident went over to his neighbor’s house the male left the area. The area was checked but the officers were unable to locate the male.

6/18/2015

10:29 AM - Officer Frazee took a report of a found wallet from a Forest Avenue resident. The owner was contacted and will respond to pick up his property.

1:54 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli responded along with the Rescue Squad to a report of a person who fell on Grove Avenue. After treatment for an arm injury the victim was transported to Mountainside Hospital.

6:00 PM - Officer Scheper took a report of a dispute at a Bloomfield Avenue business from a Cedar Grove resident. The resident reported he had been in the business numerous times over the past year obtaining prices. Today he entered the business and again asked for a price. When the employee realized he had purchased the item at another store she told him to leave the premises as she felt he was wasting her time. The customer left the business without incident.
