More Than 35 Dance Companies, Schools and Independent Artists to Perform at Wellmont Arts Plaza

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Dance Festival returns Sunday, September 27, transforming the Wellmont Arts Plaza into an outdoor celebration of dance, artistry and community. Produced by Freespace Dance, the free, four-hour festival brings together more than 35 professional dance companies, emerging artists, schools and independent performers representing the extraordinary diversity of dance across New Jersey.




From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, audiences will experience a dynamic lineup spanning modern, tap, jazz, ballet and contemporary dance, cultural dance traditions, youth ensembles, and independent choreographers. The festival offers something for everyone while creating a shared space where artists and audiences can connect through the power of movement.



At its heart, the Montclair Dance Festival is about making dance accessible to everyone. By bringing professional dance into one of Montclair’s most vibrant public spaces, Freespace Dance invites longtime dance enthusiasts, families, students, visitors, and community members to experience live performance—whether they arrive specifically for the festival or simply happen upon it while enjoying downtown Montclair.

Now that the air is becoming chillier, consider cuddling with a new puppy or kitten all available for adoption at the 10th Annual Luck O’ the Pup Adoption and Fundraiser on Sunday, September 27 from 12-4 pm at the Shillelagh Club in West Orange
Representatives from Rescue Shelters including Rosemarie’s Rescue Ranch, Common Sense for Animals, Meow’s Kitty Kat Rescue, West Orange TNVR, Cold Nose Warm Heart Dog Rescue, Rescue Haven Foundation, NYC Second Chance Rescue, One Step Closer Animal Rescue (O.S.C.A.R.) Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary, and Associated Humane Societies-Newark will all be on hand with their adoptable pets.
In addition to the opportunity to adopt a pet, pup cup treats will be available for anyone visiting with their pet.&nbsp; Other treats will also be available for the human companions. The event will also include a blessing of all pets.
The entire event will be hosted by Terrie Carr and will include giveaways, a 50/50, basket raffles, children’s games and face painting and vendor tables selling crafts and other items. Even if you cannot adopt at this time, you can still show your support. In addition to the 50/50 and basket raffles, The Shillelagh Club will be donating a portion of all proceeds from Tito’s Handmade Vodka drinks sold at the bar through the end of September directly to the participating rescues.
The Shillelagh Club is located at 648 Prospect Avenue, West Orange.
