Verona Green Fair to Highlight Local Environmental Issues and Sustainable Ideas

Event will also include medicine disposal drop; See the list of participating organizations here.

The Township of Verona and Verona’s Green Team, Sustainable Verona will host Verona’s first Green Fair in the Civic Center, 600 Bloomfield Ave. on Saturday, May 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to a release, the fair’s purpose is to raise awareness about environmental issues, innovative sustainable ideas and to show the steps people and the community can take to sustain their quality of life over the long term.

The Verona Environmental Commission will have local recycling information, games, and recycling bins available to pick up.

Participants include: Verona Junior Woman’s Club, Verona Municipal Alliance Committee, Moms of Verona/Caldwell NJ, Township of Verona’s Department of Public Works, Verona Library, PAWS, Hilltop Conservancy, Verona Police- Medicine drop off, Verona Health Dept., Verona Recreation Dept., Verona Ropes Course, Ivy Rain Barrels & Composters and the Purple Dragon Co-Op.

MEDICINE DISPOSAL

As part of the fair, the Verona Police Department will be hosting a drop off for expired or unwanted medicine.

Residents can bring any medications that they would like to dispose of (prescription or over-the-counter) to the Verona Civic Center, 600 Bloomfield Ave.

Police ask that residents leave the medication in its original container, and avoid mixing medications in the same container.

Residents concerned about privacy are welcome to remove any labels that contain personal information.
