In Verona: Pickup Truck Theft, Loud Music, Found Watch, Identity Theft, Business/Customer Dispute

Police Blotter: June 5 to 11

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Verona police blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

6/5/2015

10:39 AM - Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of identity theft from an Elk Road resident. The resident reported that his bank alerted him that someone had attempted to open an account using his information. He was provided with identity theft information.

2:09 PM - Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of property damage from a Linden Avenue resident. The resident reported her car’s window was shattered. She believes it may have been caused by a landscaper working at her home.

4:29 PM - Officer Steve Young took a report of a neighbor dispute at a Linn Drive resident. The dispute was over loud music and a dog barking. Officers spoke to all parties involved and they agreed to keep the peace.

6/6/2015

9:08 AM - Officer Condorelli took a report of a theft at a Pompton Avenue business. A customer reported losing his wallet while in the store. Prior to leaving the store he was able to locate his wallet but the cash was missing from the wallet. Video footage from the store showed a white male pick up the wallet, remove the cash from the wallet and placed the wallet near the front of the store.

11:00 AM - Officer Condorelli responded along with the Verona Fire Department to a report of a House Fire on Nassau Road. The fire, which appeared to be electrical in nature, was extinguished by the fire department. The Fire Official and building inspector responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation.

1:07 PM - Officer Bill Frazee took a report of found property from a South Prospect Street resident. The resident reported finding a men’s watch on Marion Road. The watch was placed into evidence.

4:36 PM - Officer Chris Scheper took a report of a dispute at a Bloomfield avenue business. The dispute between the customer and employee was over the price of an item the customer wished to purchase. The customer stated he was being harassed by the employees. He was advised to leave and not return to the business. He was also advised of complaint procedures.

6:28 PM - Officer Thomas Conroy took a report of property damage from a Wedgewood Drive resident. The resident reported that while attempting to shut off the water supply the valve broke causing water to flow into the living room. Value of the damage is unknown at this time.

7:30 PM - Officer Scheper took a report of a motor vehicle theft from an Afterglow Avenue resident. The resident reported that sometime between 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM his Nissan pick up truck was stolen from in front of his home. The vehicle was recovered in Newark on June 8.

6/8/2015

9:43 AM - Officer John Lecreux took a report of found property from a Park Avenue resident. The resident reported finding a debit card on Park Avenue. Attempts to contact the owner were unsuccessful.

6/9/2015

10:55 AM - Officer Frazee took a report of a lost wallet from a Linden Avenue resident. The resident reported he lost his wallet containing his driver’s license, vehicle registration, credit card and several gift cards. He was provided with identity theft information.

6/11/2015

8:32 AM - Officer Frazee took a report of a fraud from a Hillwood Terrace resident. The resident reported she recently had computer repairs completed and then received a call from a male who identified himself as a representative from Windows who stated she was entitled to a refund. The representative requested personal information from the resident in order to process the refund. Today she discovered money missing form her bank account. She was advised to contact her bank and was provided with identity theft information.

11:14 AM - Officer Frazee took a report of a traffic complaint from a Wedgewood Drive resident. The resident reported while walking on Bloomfield Avenue he was almost struck by a truck that was pulling to the curb to park. Information was obtained from the vehicle and operator and the resident was advised of complaint procedures.
