Police activity Jan. 8-13.

The following reports were provided by the Verona Police Department and do not necessarily indicate a conviction.

1/8/2012

10:35 PM Officer Dave Wardrope arrested Brian Schnurr of Verona on outstanding warrants from Essex Fells after his vehicle was stopped for having an expired registration. After possessing the subject was released with a new court date.

01/09/2012

11:15 AM Dispatcher Walter Graulich took a report of a wallet found at Pilgrim Plaza. The owner was located and the property returned.

11:25 AM Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report of an unlawful entry to Hillcrest
Farms on Bloomfield Avenue. Nothing was reported missing but damage was observed to several vehicles which were parked on the property.

01/10/2012

8:20 AM Officer Joseph Ballantyne took a report of malicious mischief from a Fairway Avenue resident. The resident reported that on Sunday an unknown actor threw several eggs at the passenger side of her vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. Several eggs were also found on the front lawn. The eggs have since been washed off and there was no report of any damage.

9:31 AM Sgt. Stephen DePoe responded to a Park Avenue residence and took a report of malicious mischief. The resident reported sometime overnight someone cut his hot tub cover and left several empty beer cans in his yard. The piece of hot tub cover was found near a neighbor’s vehicle.

5:32 PM Officer Timothy Banta responded to Walgreens on Claremont Avenue and took a report of a larceny. The store manager reported an individual reported observing a male in the store attempting to conceal several items. Upon checking the manager observed the male leave the store. A check of merchandise revealed several fragrance gift sets and clothing were missing from the shelves. Subject described as a white male, 5’10” with dark hair.

10:37 PM Officer Banta and Shafer responded to Montclair Police Headquarters to take custody of Christopher Morant on an outstanding warrant form the Verona Municipal Court. Subject was released after appearing in court.


1/11/2011

3:02 PM Officer Page Parsels responded to a Meadow Lane residence on a report of a suspicious person. The resident reports her dogs began barking and upon looking out the rear window she observed a Hispanic male walking off of her deck. The area was checked by officers with negative results.

4:37 PM Officer Parsels affected a motor vehicle stop on Pompton Avenue. A check of the operator showed an outstanding warrant for the operator, Daniel Nelson of Montclair. Subject was arrested, possessed and released with a new court date.

5:00 PM Sgt. Paul Watkins effected a motor vehicle stop on Bloomfield Avenue for an observed violation. While speaking with the operator of the vehicle a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the operator, Ashly Tondi of Linden to be in possession of CDS. Subject was arrested, processed and released with a court date.

5:49 PM Officer Tim Banta impounded a motor vehicle on Mt. Prospect Avenue
following a motor vehicle stop. The vehicle which was operated by an Irvington resident had a suspended registration.

1/12/2012

7:52 PM Sgt Watkins arrested Anthony Pereira of Bloomfield on an outstanding warrant from the Verona Municipal Court. After processing the subject posted bail and was released.
