12/31/2010

At 6:31 p.m., Lt. Christopher Kiernan took a report of a fire at a Claridge Drive residence. The resident reported a pot on the stovetop caught fire. The fire was put out by a neighbor with a fire extinguisher. Several people suffered minor smoke inhalation and were checked by the Verona Rescue Squad. The Verona Fire Department vented the apartment and disconnected the electric stove, which sustained heavy damage.

At 7:15 p.m., Officer William Frazee responded to a Bloomfield Avenue apartment and took a report of malicious mischief.

At 11:38 a.m., Officer Anthony O’Connor responded to a Grove Avenue residence and took a report about a wallet being found. The resident reported finding it while in the parking lot of a Pompton Avenue business.  The owner, also a Verona resident was located and the property returned. The owner reported cash missing from the wallet.

At 12:50 p.m., Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report of lost jewelry from a Derwent Avenue resident.

At 6:21 p.m., Officer Robert Shafer took a report of fraud from a Marion Road resident. The resident reported several unauthorized charges on a debit account.  The resident notified the bank and cancelled the account.

At 9:37 p.m., Officer David Wardrope responded to a Claremont Avenue residence after a report of a possible burglary in progress. The resident reported while in the home he heard knocking and someone attempted to open his basement door. A check of the home showed the basement door was ajar, however nothing else was disturbed.

At 10:30 a.m., Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report of a possible fraud from a Bloomfield Avenue business owner.

At 1:33 p.m., Officer William Frazee took a report for a West Orange resident who has been unable to obtain processed photos back from a Bloomfield Avenue business.

At 5:18 p.m., Officer Michael Barone arrested Kumrija Cosovic of Cedar Grove for shoplifting.  After processing she was issued a complaint and released on bail.

At 8:37 p.m., Officer David Wardrope responded to a Grove Avenue residence and took a report of a possible fraud.

At 9:09 p.m., Officer Michael Barone took a report of malicious mischief from a Malvern Place resident.

At 9:56 p.m., Officer David Wardrope took a report of a verbal dispute from a West Orange resident.
