5:31 PM Officer Page Parsels responded to a Harrison Street residence and took a report of property damage due to flooding from a severe rain storm.

8:24 PM Officer Ed Carattini responded to a Hillside Avenue residence and took a report of property damage due to a severe rain storm. The resident reported mud from a building lot made its way into his pool and filter.
12:30 PM Officer Joel Martin responded to a report of criminal mischief near the Franklin Street Bridge. An anonymous individual reported observing juveniles possibly setting a fire. Upon the officer’s arrival, he found a small pile of what appeared to be miscellaneous school papers smoldering. The Verona Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The matter will be forwarded to the Juvenile Officer.

11:43 AM Officer William Frazee responded to a Park Place business and took a report of a stolen vehicle. The business owner reported while she was in and out of the business loading her vehicle, someone entered it and drove away. The vehicle information was entered into the state computer system as stolen. Also taken was a purse, which was in the vehicle, containing numerous identifiers as well as some cash.
3:08 PM Officer James Barry responded to a Woodland Avenue residence and took a report of a burglary. The resident reported someone cut a window screen to gain entry into her home. Reported missing at this time is a piece of diamond jewelry.
10:45 PM Officer Steven Young responded and took a report of a dispute on Park Avenue. The individuals were spoken to and then advised of complaint procedures.
11:26 PM Officer John Lecreux responded to a Durrell Street location and took a report of a fire in a parking lot. A witness reported observing several juveniles in the area carrying a torch when one of the set fire to the contents of a drum. Upon arrival Officer Lecreux observed two small fires. Using extinguishers, Officer Lecreux, assisted by Officer Steven Young extinguished the fires. The Fire Department responded to make sure both fires were thoroughly extinguished. A torch found in the area was taken as evidence.

6:54 AM Officer James Barry took a report of a suspicious person from a Martin Road resident.
7:25 AM Officer William Frazee responded to the Forest Avenue school and took a report of property damage. Two portable soccer nets were found torn on the school field.
8:40 AM while on patrol Officer William Frazee observed a damaged parking meter at a Bloomfield Avenue location. Upon further inspection it was noted that the meter lock was damaged and an unknown amount of change was missing.
2:09 PM Officer William Frazee took a report of a lost or stolen wallet from a Verona resident.

8:08 AM Officer William Frazee responded to a Woodland Avenue location on a report of found property. A bicycle which had been abandoned was taken to headquarters.
8:46 AM Officer William Frazee took a report of stolen property from a Montclair resident. The resident reported while at a Verona business her keys were taken from a locker room.
1:45 PM Officer William Frazee took a report and numerous officers responded, after a report of several juveniles setting a brush fire in a wooded area near Brookdale Avenue School. The remains of a small fire were located and had apparently self extinguished. Several youths were detained, questioned and turned over to a parent or guardian. Complaints may be signed.

6:58 AM Officer Joseph Ballantyne took a report of a prior suspicious person from a Verona resident.
9:02 AM Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded to Sampson Drive and took a report of malicious mischief. A Board of Education employee reported numerous phrases were spray painted on the roadway with white paint.

12:26 PM Sgt. Stephen DePoe responded to Verona Park after receiving a report of a suspicious backpack observed on the ground. The Essex County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Unit responded and inspected the backpack, which upon further investigation revealed school papers and notebooks. The backpack was found to have been left behind by a local youth and it was returned to him.
3:45 PM Officer Michael Barone arrested Cyrus Kersey of Verona on an outstanding Newark Municipal Court warrant. After processing and posting bail he was released.
4:03 PM Officer Ron Thorward took a report of harassing phone calls from a South Prospect Street resident.
