08/19/2011

12:00 AM Officer John Lecreux responded to a Linden Avenue location and took a report of a simple assault.  Several males were spoken with regarding an argument which occurred.

9:57 AM Dispatcher Susan DeWitt took a report of harassment from a Bloomfield Avenue resident.

10:25 AM Officer William Frazee took a report of a possible fraud from a Personette Avenue resident. 

12:16 PM Dispatcher Susan DeWitt took a report of lost property from a Claridge Drive resident.

2:12 PM A Balston Drive resident reported a lost cell phone.

3:17 PM Officer Paul Watkins took a report of harassment from a Beechwood Road resident.  The resident was advised of complaint procedures.

6:32 PM Officer David Wardrope arrested Stephen Gelzer of Verona for possession of CDS.  After processing, he was issued several complaints and transported to the Essex County Jail.

4:39 AM Sgt. Michael Traettino reported an eluding driver after he observed a suspicious vehicle traveling slowly on Martin Road.  Once the driver had observed the officer, the vehicle accelerated traveling on Pompton Avenue and into Montclair. Sgt. Traettino lost sight of the vehicle near Gates Avenue in Montclair and the pursuit was terminated.  The Montclair Police Department was notified.

9:32 AM Officer William Frazee responded to a Forest Avenue residence and took a report of malicious mischief.  The resident reported he discovered the air was let out of a tire on his vehicle which was parked in the driveway.

12:15 PM Officer Joseph Ballantyne took a report of an illegal entry into a vehicle.  A Fairview Avenue resident reported finding his vehicle door open.  Nothing appeared to be disturbed or missing.

5:04 PM Officer Page Parsels responded to a Randolph Place residence and took a report of property damage.  Water damage was observed due to a leak from a water heater.  The water was shut off and the resident advised to contact a plumber.

8:28 PM Officer Paul Watkins arrested Mark Apostolou of Livingston for driving while intoxicated.  Mr. Apostolou was observed in his vehicle, which was parked and blocking a driveway on Malvern Place.  After investigating, he was transported to the hospital for evaluation and medical care.  Two summonses were issued.

12:11 PM Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report of a larceny from a Wedgewood Drive resident. The resident reported while she was shopping her wallet was stolen after she placed it down while picking up some fruit.  Missing are numerous identifiers, credit cards and NJ driver’s license.

4:48 PM Officer Page Parsels took a report of property damage from a Claridge Drive resident.  The resident reported upon returning to her parked vehicle she observed damage to her passenger side mirror.

11:38 AM Officer Anthony O’Connor took a report of criminal mischief from two Bloomfield Avenue business owners. Both individuals reported discovering damage to their vehicles after using them earlier in the day.  A tire on each vehicle had become separated from the car while driving and both vehicles had to be towed.    The owners reported they had each parked their cars near their businesses the previous day.  The Detective Bureau is investigating.

12:00 PM Officer William Frazee arrested Stanley Winckowski of Paterson on an outstanding Verona Municpal Court warrant.  After processing he was transported to the Essex County Jail.

7:02 PM Officer Robert Shafer took a report of trespassing from a Balston Drive resident.

4:02 PM Officer Robert Shafer took a report of a larceny from a Depot Street resident.  The resident reported the theft of a check from a letter that was delivered.

5:23 PM Officer David Wardrope responded to a South Prospect Street residence and took a report of a suspicious person.

6:49 PM Officer Robert Shafer responded to a Bloomfield Avenue business and took a report of fraud.
