Police activity Oct. 14-21

The following information has been provided by the Verona Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Oct. 15

12:43 PM Officer Joel Martin took a report of suspicious phone calls from a Pompton Avenue resident.

2:52 PM Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of a fraud from a Morningside Road resident.

5:39 PM Officer Michael Barone took a report of a theft that occurred outside a Claremont Avenue business.

7:52 PM Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of a simple assault that took place on Bloomfield Avenue.

9:31 PM Officer David Wardrope assisted the Essex County Sheriff Department with a minor disturbance in Verona Park.

Oct. 17

3:13 PM Officer Page Parsels took a report of property damage on Wedgewood Drive.

Oct. 18

4:58 PM Officer Robert Shafer took a report of a suspicious person and vehicle in the area of Forest Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue

Oct. 20

1:05 PM Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to a Bloomfield Avenue business for a report of a hand injury which occurred when a person's hand was caught in a piece of machinery.  After treatment, the patient was transported to University Hospital.

4:24 PM Officer Parsels took a report of a dog bite which occurred on Fairview Avenue.

Oct. 21

2:41 PM Officer Parsels took a report of a dispute that occurred outside of a Grove Avenue Business.

4:59 PM Officer Parsels took a report of an attempted motor vehicle theft on Elmwood Road.  Investigation revealed that the driver side door lock and ignition had been damaged.

8:40 PM Sgt. Watkins observed several juveniles run from the gazebo area of Verona Park.  The youths were located on an adjacent street and found to be in possession of alcoholic beverages.
