Verona Police Blotter: Feb. 27 to March 6

Incidents include illegal dumping, motor vehicle burglary, identity theft and damage to gas pump

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Verona Police Blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

2/27/2015

2:02 PM Officer Bill Frazee conducted a motor vehicle stop in reference to a suspicious vehicle that was reported on Montclair Ave. After speaking with the operator and passenger their credentials were checked through headquarters. It was determined that there were outstanding warrants for the driver Joshua Evans of Newark and the passenger Danny Eli of the Bronx. Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. After processing subjects were released with court dates for the Newark, Union and Leonia Municipal Courts.

3:44 PM Officer Chris Scheper took a report of property damage from a Bloomfield Avenue business. The business owner reported water leaking into her business from the apartment above. The building owner as well as the building inspector were contacted. The owner contacted a plumber to repair the leak.

3/2/2015

1:25 PM Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle from a Crane Terrace resident. The resident reported that sometime during the past several days his vehicle had been entered and several items of paperwork were missing from the vehicle. Damage was observed to the driver side door lock.

3/3/2015

10:53 AM Officer Condorelli took a report of property damage at a Bloomfield Avenue business. A motorist reported after getting gas she pulled away from the pump not realizing the nozzle was still in the vehicle. Damage was observed to the vehicle and gas pump.

4:41 PM Officer Mike Barone took a report of fraud from a Hillside Avenue resident. The resident reported that he observed several unauthorized ATM withdrawals on his bank account. The resident had been in contact with his bank and had the account closed. He was provided with identity theft information.

3/4/2015

12:43 PM Officer Joe Ballantyne took a report of a fraud from a Grove Avenue resident. The resident reported that she discovered unauthorized charges on her credit card account. The resident spoke to the credit card company and the card was cancelled.

2:34 PM Officer Condorelli took a report of illegal dumping at the recycling center. The public works foreman reported that an unknown person dumped building materials into mixed paper recycling dumpster. The Detective Bureau was able to obtain video tape which showed the actor dumping the materials. Through the license plate of the vehicle they were able to locate the actor, Kenneth Iulo of Montville. He was issued a summons for illegal dumping.
