Verona Police Blotter: March 6 to 13
Incidents included unwelcome patron, DUI, broken pipes, stolen license plate, harassing texts.

10:17 p.m. - Lt. Chris Kiernan took a report of a dispute at a Bloomfield Ave business. The business owner reported that she was having a problem with a patron of the business who was being disruptive. The business owner stated that she would be advising the patron that she was no longer welcome in the business.

6:34 p.m. - Sgt. Paul Watkins conducted a motor vehicle stop on Fairview Avenue for an observed violation. While speaking with the operator of the vehicle the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. The operator was asked to step from the vehicle and complete several field sobriety tests. After completing the tests the operator, Stefano Bricoli of Cedar Grove was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. After processing he was released to a family member.

10:47 AM - Officer Bill Frazee responded along with the Verona Fire Department on a report of a fire alarm activation on White Rock Road. Investigation revealed a broken water pipe in the attic of the building which caused water damage in several apartments. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.

2:17 PM - Sgt. Dan Greco took a report of a Stolen License Plate from an Orange resident. The resident reported parking his car in the Pilgrim Plaza and when he returned to the car he noticed the license plate missing.
6:57 PM - Officer Robert Juliano took a report of found property from a North Caldwell resident. The resident found a set of keys in Verona Park. The officer was able to make contact with the owner through a store rewards card.
10:02 PM - Sgt. Paul Watkins initiated a motor vehicle stop on Grove Avenue for an observed violation. Upon checking the operator’s credentials a warrant from the Summit Municipal Court was found for the operator. Maxwell Hertzan of Summit was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. Upon searching the operator several prescription pills were found in his pocket. After processing summons were issued for the motor vehicle violations as well as possessing the prescription drugs without a prescription. Bail was paid for the outstanding warrant and the subject was released.

10:56 AM - Officer John Lecreux took a report of stolen license plates from a Washington NJ resident. The resident reports the license plates were removed from his vehicle while it was parked in Verona. The plates were entered as stolen in the NCIC computer system.
5:30 PM - Officer Robert Juliano responded along with the Verona Fire Department to the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Sunset Avenue on a report of a manhole explosion. A large hole was observed in the street. One motorist reported damage to her vehicle caused by the flying debris. Value of damage is unknown at his time.

11:14 AM - Officer Justin Nielsen took a report of a dispute at a Pompton Avenue business. An employee reported that she was threatened over the phone by a fellow employee. She reported the incident to her supervisor.
4:03 PM - Officer Joel Martin took a report of Criminal Mischief from a Woodland Avenue resident. The resident reported her vehicle was keyed while parked on Samson Drive. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.
8:14 PM - Officer Mike Barone took a report of harassment from a Fellswood Drive resident. The resident reports receiving several harassing text messages from different phone numbers. She was advised to keep copies of the messages and to contact the police if they continue.
