Police Blotter: Assault, Fraud Reported in Verona
The following information has been provided by the Verona Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

April 13: A Bloomfield Avenue business owner told police a white truck hit a decorative light poll and left the area at 10:32 a.m. The value of property damage is unknown.
April 13: An Oakridge Road resident told police he received a phone call at 11:12 a.m. from a man who said he was from the lottery commission and the resident needed to mail a check to the lottery commission to claim his prize. The resident was suspicious and hung up.
April 13: Verona police and fire officials were called to a Dumpster fire behind a Bloomfield Avenue business. The fire, which was contained to the Dumpster, was extinguished.

April 14: A man told police he was punched in the head, followed and verbally harassed down Bloomfield Avenue at 11:18 p.m. by a patron standing outside a business. The suspect was found and questioned but he denied the assault.
April 15: A Hillside Avenue resident told police at 8:07 a.m. that overnight his rear driver’s side tire was slashed on his vehicle.

April 15: Verona police and rescue squad were called to Our Lady of the Lake Church, 32 Lakeside Ave. after a person fell out of their wheelchair at 11:51 a.m. The person was treated and transported to Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
April 17: A Grove Avenue business owner told police $800 was missing from his checking account. The man contacted the bank and was advised to follow up with the Verona Police Detective Bureau.
April 18: A Montrose Avenue resident told police she has been receiving harassing text messages for the past several weeks. Police advised her to save the messages.
April 18: A Hillside Avenue resident told police she received a bill from a local hospital emergency room, but she was never a patient at the facility. The hospital said it would investigate the issue.
April 19: A Bloomfield Avenue business owner told police she received a text message from AT&T requesting further information to switch her account over from Verizon at 2:43 p.m. The owner told police she never requested a change in service and also said her business has been having issues with its phones. The owner believes someone may have tampered with them because she noticed the front and back door locks were damaged.
April 19: A Park Court resident told police at 6:56 p.m. her neighbor harassed and accused her for damaging his vehicle in December. The neighbor was told previously to file an accident report, but never did.
