Verona: Police Issue Warning About Night-Time Burglary Spree
Cops asks residents to take safety precautions; An investigation is ongoing.

The Verona Police Department issued a Nixle alert on Tuesday in response to a series of burglaries in the township, warning residents to take precautions for their safety at night.
According to the alert:
“The Township has experienced several burglaries, at least one of which occurred during the overnight hours. The investigation into these incidents is ongoing. Residents are reminded to lock their doors and windows and to set their home alarms before retiring for the evening. In addition, appropriate lighting should be left on at night. Also remember to lock your cars.”

In addition, police warned residents to be alert for “suspicious persons,” and to immediately contact the police department at 973-239-5000 (or 911 in an emergency.)
“Please remember – if you think something or someone is suspicious, call us!!” the alert stated. “You won’t be a nuisance, and you won’t be inconveniencing us. We’d rather check something out and find it to be nothing than to later discover that a crime has been committed.”
