Verona Resident Receives Pair of Suspicious Letters

Fairview Avenue resident returns letter to post office, gets visit from man looking for package, police said.

Verona police are cautioning residents after a Fairview Avenue resident received a pair of suspicious letters within a few days, addressed to a man who doesn’t live at the address.

According to police reports, on March 29 the homeowner received a letter at her home, but it was addressed to a man she didn’t know. She brought the letter to the post office and informed postal officials the man didn’t live there.

Later that day, police said, a man arrived at her home looking for a package that was supposed to be delivered to a different address in the area. The homeowner told the man the letter was returned to the post office and the man left.

Several days later, the woman received a similar letter in the mail, returned it to the post office and contacted police.

The woman was advised by the postal inspector to contact police if she receives any additional letters.
