In Verona: Slashed Tires, Theft of Election Sign, Illegal Dumping, Brush Fire

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Verona Police Blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
4/10/2015
9:01 AM - Officer Robert Juliano took a report of property damage from a Montclair Avenue resident. The resident reported the tire of her vehicle appears to have been slashed. Value of the damage is unknown at this time.

9:23 AM - Officer Juliano arrested Obiora Udodi of West Orange on an outstanding warrant from the Orange Municipal Court. After processing he was released with a new court date.

4/13/2015
9:52 AM - Officer Juliano took a report of a theft from a Grove Avenue resident. The resident reported that an election sign had been taken from her front lawn.
10:01 AM - Officer Joe Ballantyne took a report of property damage from at a Grove Avenue business. A tow truck operator reported while lowering a vehicle from the flatbed truck it struck a garage door causing an unknown amount of damage to the garage door.

7:06 AM - Officer Bill Frazee took a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle from a Howard Street resident. The resident reported that his vehicle was entered and that a wallet and miscellaneous paperwork was missing from the vehicle.
8:36 AM - Officer Frazee took a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle from a Howard Street resident. The resident reported she discovered the driver’s side door of her vehicle open when she came out of her home. Nothing appears to be missing from the vehicle at this time.
8:40 AM - Sgt. Greco took a report of a theft of a wallet from a Grove Avenue resident. The resident reported his wallet was stolen while he was on vacation. The wallet contained his NJ Driver’s License, credit cards and personal identification. He was provided with identity theft information.

11:33 AM - Officer Erin McGarrity took a report of lost property from an Oakridge Road resident. The resident reported she left her backpack containing a laptop computer on a NJ Transit bus. She has been in contact with NJ Transit but they have not located the backpack. Value of the missing items is approximately $1,000.
1:34 PM - Officer Ballantyne took a report of illegal dumping on Mt. Vernon Square. The property representative requested an extra patrol in the area.
4/16/2015
11:39 AM - Officer Juliano responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to a report of a person who fell on Grove Avenue. After treatment for a laceration the victim refused transportation to the hospital.
2:51 PM - Officer Mike Barone responded along with the Verona Fire Department to a reported brush fire on Lynwood Road. The fire was extinguished and no property damage was reported.
5:32 PM - Officer Barone took a report of a neighbor dispute on Halsted Street. The resident reported a neighbor was harassing contractors who were installing a fence on his property. The neighbor reported that the contractors were going on her property. The contractors were advised to not enter the neighbor’s property. The building inspector was notified.
