Police Blotter: July 24 to 30

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Verona police blotter, a listing of selected incidents which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all persons should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

7/24/2015

9:11 AM - Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of found property from a Morningside Road resident. The resident reported finding a target arrow in his yard.

11:27 PM - Officer Alyssa Kirby took a report of a dispute from a Fairfield Resident. The resident reported that while playing tennis at the high school, a male began to yell at him for the way he had been driving. After several minutes the male left the area on foot.

7/25/2015

1:26 AM - Officer Kirby took a report of a dispute on Valhalla Way. A taxi driver reported transporting two males to Verona from the PNC Arts Center. Upon arrival there was a dispute over the fare. The passengers were assisted in obtaining the money necessary to pay the fare. All parties were satisfied.

10:00 AM - Officer John Lecreux responded with the rescue squad to a report of a male who fell on South Prospect street. After treatment for a leg injury he refused transportation to the hospital.

3:00 PM - Officer Robert Juliano took a report of a landlord tenant dispute at a Blooomfield Avenue residence. After speaking with all parties involved the tenant was allowed to remove their belongings from the apartment. All parties were advised to contact the Landlord Tenant court to resolve their dispute.

8:37 PM - Officer Mike Barone took a report of shoplifting at a Bloomfield Avenue business. An employee reported that a female was in the store and requested to purchase several packs of cigarettes. The employee put the merchandise in a bag and while he was ringing up the sale the female took the bag and ran out of the store. The employee saw her get into a black Honda driven by a male. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle which was last seen traveling South on Mt. Prospect Avenue.

7/26/2015

10:55 AM - Officer Justin Nielsen took a report of a suspicious vehicle at a Pompton Avenue business. The business owner reported he observed a van pull into the lot and a male exited the vehicle and walked towards a pile of scrap metal in the lot. When the male saw the business owner he returned to the van and they left the area.

5:30 PM - Officer Juliano took a report of found property from an Afterglow Avenue resident. The resident reported finding an Audi car key and several store courtesy cards in Verona Park. The owner was located and retrieved her property.

7/27/2015

7:49 AM - Sgt Paul Watkins and Officer Thomas Conroy responded to the Passaic County Jail to pick up Robert Walton of Passaic on an outstanding warrant from the Verona Municipal Court. After processing he was transported to the Essex County Jail in Newark.

12:55 PM - Officer Bill Frazee took a report of a fraud from a Claridge Drive resident. The resident reported that she received a letter from Social Security thanking her for using their online services. The resident reported she has never used the online service and has been in contact with social security. She was provided with identity theft information.

7/28/2015

4:39 AM - Officer Ed Ruff took a report of a suspicious person from a Mount Prospect Avenue resident. The resident reported a male was following her as she drove from her home. The subject was located and was determined to have been jogging in the area. The resident was advised of the findings.

11:17 PM - Officer Ruff conducted a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation. While speaking with the operator he detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. The operator was asked to step from the vehicle and perform field sobriety tests. After completing the tests the operator, Joseph Patullo of Paterson was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and released to a family member.

7/30/2015

9:08 AM - Officer Frazee took a report of found property from a township employee. The employee reported finding a cell phone on Grove Avenue. The owner was identified and responded to pick up his phone.

3:11 PM - Officer Chris Scheper took a report of found property from a Depot Street resident. The resident reported finding an iPhone on Fairview Avenue. The owner was identified and responded to pick up his phone.
