Verona's Teachers Join Cedar Grove Counterparts, Get 3-Year Contracts

The labor agreement comes just in time for the start of the school year.

Verona’s teachers officially have contracts.

During Tuesday’s Verona Board of Education meeting, board members voted to approve a three-year contract with the Verona Education Association, just in time for the start of the school year.

The labor agreement with the union runs through June of 2018 and includes a 2.77 percent salary increase for employees in the first year, and 2.5 percent in years two and three, NorthJersey.com reported.

The VEA’s previous contract – which was settled in 2014 and was retroactive to 2012 – took 18 months of negotiation.

The Cedar Grove Board of Education approved a three-year contact with the Cedar Grove Education Association in August, agreeing to a 2.7 percent increase in the first year, a 2.6 percent increase in the second and a 1.9 percent increase in the final year of the contract, NorthJersey.com reported.

The CGEA’s prior contract expired after the 2013-2014 school year.
