WASHINGTON, D.C. – Anthony DiGiacinto a resident of Verona, New Jersey and a freshman at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. completed a semester long internship for Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ) in his Washington office.

Working as a congressional intern, Mr. DiGiacinto had various responsibilities, such as researching legislation, attending committee hearings, sitting in on meetings with the congressman and his staff, and giving tours of the Capitol Building. He stated that his favorite part of the internship was sitting in on committee hearings, “The hearings were always fascinating, I always had the opportunity to sit in on whatever hearing I found most interesting, usually involving the Committee on Foreign Affairs.”

“This internship has truly been a learning experience,” Mr. DiGiacinto noted, “I have learned so much about the legislative process and duties of the congressmen and his staff. Before interning I had little knowledge on the legislative process and what actually took place in the Capitol, but after working behind the scenes and sitting in on various committee hearings and researching different legislation I learned how much work and research goes into every bill and law. This has truly been such a learning experience.”

“Not many people get to say they work in the Capitol,” Mr. DiGiacinto noted, “I mean every day at work I would be walking through the rotunda, past Speaker of the House Boehner’s office, and even bump into some high ranking members of congress, such as Rep. Paul Ryan, it never gets old. Interning at the center of the government has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life.”

Anthony DiGiacinto is double majoring in international business and Italian studies. After his freshman year, Mr. DiGiacinto plans to have many more internships throughout his next three years, study abroad, and take advantage of every opportunity that comes his way.
