2 Dogs Rescued As Shed Fire Damages Garages In Wall: Police
Breaking: The burning shed spread to two garages, one attached to a home where the dogs were inside, police said.

WALL, NJ — Two dogs were rescued Monday as a shed fire damaged two garages and threatened a home in Wall Township, police said Tuesday.
Police were called to 2404 Beech St. about 1:40 p.m. on Monday for the report of a fire and found the shed ablaze, Detective Lt. Greg Carpino said.
Patrolmen Mike Malone and Tom Dowd, who were the first to arrive, saw the fire spreading to the attached garage at 2402 Beech and saw the two dogs trapped in the home at 2402 Beech, Carpino said, so they forced their way into the home and rescued the dogs — a Labrador retriever named Meatball and a Jack Russell-corgi mix named Brownie. Wall Community First Aid member Robert Sutphen assisted with the rescue, he said, and the dogs were unharmed and turned over to their owner.

The fire damaged the shed and garages at 2404 and 2402 Beech St., he said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Wall Township Police Department and the Wall Township Fire Bureau, Carpino said.
