Today in New Jersey history:
July 16, 1927: The present “Centre Bridge” across the Delaware River between Hunterdon County, New Jersey and Bucks County, Pennsylvania, successor to several previous privately owned bridges at the same location, was opened for traffic. It was built and maintained by both states before being transferred to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission on July 1, 1987.
