
LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth Medical Center, one of New Jersey’s largest community teaching hospitals, has announced the appointment of Anthony P. Terracciano as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Terracciano, of Sea Girt, has served on Monmouth Medical Center’s Board of Trustees since 2002. Since 2008, Terracciano has held the position of Chairman of Sallie Mae, Inc. He served as President of First Union Corp. from 1995 until 1997. He was the CEO, President, and Chairman at First Fidelity Bank Corporation from 1990 until 1996. Prior to First Fidelity, Terracciano served as the President and Chief Operating Officer at Mellon Bank Corp. He spent the first 23 years of his career at Chase Manhattan Bank Corporation, where he held positions of progressive responsibility, culminating in his position as the Vice Chairman of Wholesale Banking and Investment Banking, and his eventual naming to the Board of Directors for Chase Manhattan Bank.
Previously, Terracciano served as a Director at N.J. Bell, Chairman of Dime Bancorp. Inc., Chairman of Riggs National Corp, and Vice Chairman of the Board at American Water Works Company, Inc. He received a B.S in Economics from St. Peter's College and an M.A in Philosophy from Fordham University.
