UPDATE: Belmar Boulevard Reopens After DWI Crash, Police Say
The accident happened Monday evening, Wall Township police said.

WALL, NJ -- (Updated 10:30 a.m.) Belmar Boulevard, which had been closed after a crash damaged a utility pole, reopened to traffic about 9:15 a.m., police said.

Belmar Boulevard remained closed Tuesday morning after a motor vehicle crash damaged a utility pole, Wall Township police said.

Police were called to Belmar Boulevard and Heritage Court about 7:30 p.m. Monday for a reported motor vehicle crash, Wall Lt. Pete Lokerson said. Edwin Drake, 54, of Neptune City was headed east on Belmar Boulevard when his vehicle went off the road, hitting and significantly damaging a utility pole, he said.
Drake was uninjured, but was charged with driving while intoxicated and taken to Wall Police Headquarters where he was processed and released, Lokerson said.

Power was out in the area for approximately four hours. Belmar Boulevard remains closed between Martin Road and Walton Way but is expected to reopen by about 9 a.m., he said.
Patrolman Jay Baker was the investigating and arresting officer.
